In 1968, master craftsman Gianni Marchetti founded the Marchetti artistic furniture firm, bringing to the venture a few years of experience he had gained as a craftsman. To this day, a profound knowledge of wood, an acute aesthetic sense, an original approach and outstanding craftsmanship remain values that have been handed down through the generations of the family. In the Marchetti artistic furniture workshop, the fragrance of wood blends with all the charm of an ancient craft. From here come exclusive pieces that combine the flavour of a traditional craft with innovation and design. The hallmarks of each one of our products are the top-quality materials and the exclusive design. All the woods we use are carefully selected and chosen in accordance with the finest quality criteria. The piles of wood are skillfully positioned in such a way as to allow the sun and wind to pass through the trunks, drying them naturally. This procedure is known as natural seasoning. The piles of wood are then treated in special drying systems, in order to obtain the level of humidity most conducive to processing. In our workshop, the furniture is created using traditional techniques such as finger joints, swallowtail joints, carving and inlays. Before assembly, the pieces are planed by hand. The carving is carried out using a single-arm pantograph, but in order to create the sharply three-dimensional effect, they must be finished to a large extent by hand, becoming authentic sculptural works. The inlay designs are exclusive to Marchetti, and are created on 20/10 thickness sheets; in order to achieve the nuances desired, use is made of the colors and the veining of the different types of wood, producing creations with an unmistakable design. Any small variations in size or color are characteristic of handmade items. |
